Clothing

  • 3 Pairs of Pajamas
  • 6 Casual Outfits (no offensive images or words; all shirts must have sleeves)  
  • 1 Dress Outfit (if you plan to attend church)
  • 3 Pairs of Shoes (including the ones you wear on arrival)
  • Slippers (optional)
  • Shower Shoes (flip-flops work well)
  • Rain Coat (if desired) 
  • Seasonal Jacket/Coat, Scarf, Hat, Gloves ​​​

Toiletries

  • Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Laundry Detergent & Fabric Softener (NO Bleach)
  • Shaving Cream
  • Razor (may be electric if it has UL stamp on it)
  • Hair Brush or Comb
  • Nail Clippers
  • Hair Dryer, Curling Iron, and Straigtener (optional - if brought, must have UL stamp)
  • Bath Towels
  • Wash Cloths

Personal Items

  • ​Disposable vapes (new, in sealed packaging) ONLY – no reusable, mods, etc will be allowed. 
  • Tobacco products for 30 days OR money to purchase them
  • NEW Pillow (still in the plastic wrapper)
  • Pillow Case
  • NEW Bedding & Sheets (optional - BVI has some available for use if you prefer)
  • Alarm Clock (optional - may NOT have a radio function)
  • 30 day supply of ALL non-narcotic medications prescribed to you by your doctor. If you will be staying longer than 30 days, you will also need valid refills for these prescriptions.
  • Valid Tennessee Photo ID
  • Names, Phone Numbers, and Street Addresses for all personal contacts who will need to know that you are here or come visit you.
  • Names, Phone Numbers, Fax Numbers, and Street Addresses for all legal contacts who will need to know you are here (probation/parole officers, lawyers, judges, etc).​
  • Change for Vending Machines if you would like to purchase soda or snacks. Three meals will be provided each day.
  • UNOPENED Gum and Mints (optional)

  • Technological equipment, including but not limited to:
    • CELL PHONES (Cell phones will NOT be allowed to remain on BVI campus. They will be packaged and shipped back to the client's home address. Clients will be charged $5 to cover the shipping costs. BVI is NOT responsible for any damage the phone may sustain while it is either on property or in transit.)
    • LAPTOPS
    • TABLETS
    • CD players
    • MP3 players
    • HEADPHONES, etc.
  • Outside reading material, other than what is listed in the Literature section 
  • Knives, scissors, straight blade razors, or any other weapons
  • Hair trimmers
  • Personal hygiene items containing alcohol, such as:
    • Mouth wash (unless it states alcohol free on the label)
    • Cologne/perfume/aftershave​
  • Aerosol cans, such as:
    • Aerosol deodorant
    • Hairspray
    • Lysol
    • Bug spray
  • Outside food or drinks. Snacks and drinks may be purchased at vending machines between meal times.
  • Playing cards or board games
  • Bleach
  • Unapproved medications (see approved medication list below), including narcotics, gabapentin, and opened over-the-counter medications
  • Expensive clothing, jewelry, etc. and/or large sums of money
  • Reusable, refillable vapes, mods, etc will NOT be allowed

​No medications with any abuse potential will be allowed on Buffalo Valley premises for storage or use.
